Eventful stay at the Hotel Thüringenschanze during the GettingTough – 5ELEMENTS obstacle course
We would like to draw your attention to a special event in Oberhof: the GettingTough – 5ELEMENTS obstacle course. From 21 to 22 June 2024, this challenging competition will take place in the sports stronghold of Oberhof. The Hotel Thüringenschanze offers you the ideal starting point to experience this event.
Five top sports venues, one destination
Oberhof is characterised by a high concentration of top sports venues that offer both competition and training opportunities. The GettingTough – 5ELEMENTS obstacle course has established itself here as a sporting highlight and is now taking place for the fifth time.
Premiere despite challenges
The first staging of the event in 2020 was characterised by the challenges of the coronavirus crisis. Thanks to the cooperation with the Thuringian Winter Sports Centre Association, the city of Oberhof and the district of Schmalkalden-Meiningen, the event was still able to be held successfully. Jens Roß, one of the organisers, is delighted with the long-term establishment of the obstacle course.

The challenge
On Saturday, 1,000 runners will take to the starting line. The route includes the ski jumps at Wadeberg and Kanzlergrund, the LOTTO Thüringen Skisport-HALLE and the 1,354.5 metre long luge track in the LOTTO Thüringen EISARENA. Further challenges await participants in the LOTTO Thüringen ARENA on the Rennsteig, including the Birxsteig.
Supporting programme
In addition to the sporting competition, there will be an extensive supporting programme. At the Oberhof town square, the starting point of the elite races, various stands invite you to linger. In the evening, the after-race party will take place in the Joel Bar from 9 pm. Tickets are available online at www.gettingtough.de.
Public viewing of the European Football Championships
From Thursday, football fans can enjoy public viewing on the town square. A total of eight games of the European Football Championship, including the last preliminary round game of the German team, will be broadcast live.

- 09.00 am: Kidsrun (AHORN Panorama Hotel Oberhof)
- 11.00 am: Start of the 17-kilometre run
- 14.30 hrs: Start of the 9-kilometre run
- 21.00 hrs: After-Race-Party (Joel-Bar Oberhof)
