German Thermometer Museum Geraberg
– A museum you can touch –
Temperature not only plays an important role in our everyday lives, as in the questions: “What will the weather be like? Is the fridge at the right temperature? Do we have a fever?
It is also a very important topic in power stations, chemistry, medicine and for the optimum utilisation of energy as well as in times of climate change. It is not for nothing that temperature is one of the most frequently measured physical quantities.
In the German Thermometer Museum you can learn all about temperature measurement. With a thermal imaging camera, infrared thermometer and replicas of historical instruments, you can go on a discovery tour yourself. Look over the shoulder of a thermometer blower and a thermometer recorder and experience how precision instruments are made from a simple glass tube.

The Zwergen-Park® is a garden of over 5000 square metres, which we have lovingly designed. Our railway runs through the park, ringing its bells, through a tunnel past an idyllic pond and part of the grounds.
There is plenty to see to the right and left of the railway tracks. There are over 2500 gnomes of all shapes and sizes to admire across the entire site. Beautiful, curious, strange and funny things alternate. The Zwergen-Park® is currently home to the only Dwarf Tree.

Here you can watch the dwarves grow from the Dwarf Fruits®. Dwarves that have hatched from the Dwarf Fruits® are already running around. Many beautiful photo motifs guarantee a lasting memory. An impressive 7-metre-high climbing rock invites you to go alpine climbing. There is also an 18-hole dwarf golf course, a great and sporty pleasure with fun for young and old.

Our panoramic barbecue invites you to linger while the children explore the entire leisure park. Ideal for families looking for a day of outdoor fun and relaxation. KATI ZORN porcelain art

Cursdorf was first mentioned in a document in 1537 as Cunradesdorf. The village on an old trade route from Erfurt to Nuremberg belonged to the county of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt. The inhabitants of the village were traditionally active in forestry and glass processing, as well as in the olive oil trade. So much for the text from the encyclopaedia. Today, Cursdorf stands for recreation, the mountain railway and porcelain.Georg Heinrich Macheleidt was born in Cursdorf in 1723. He is regarded as one of the inventors of porcelain and is the founder of the oldest Volkstedt porcelain manufactory. And here we have come full circle. Kati Zorn, who stands for the New Art of figurative porcelain like no other, worked in the oldest Volkstedt porcelain manufactory and has been an independent porcelain designer in Cursdorf since 2000. she is a master at capturing the moment of great emotions such as lust, love, sadness and melancholy in unique porcelain figurines. a visit to her gallery is a very special experience. What the building promises on the outside is also kept on the inside – modern architecture meets a contemporary interior and unrivalled porcelain sculptures. Whimsical, amusing, lascivious and also a little frivolous and cheeky, the sculptures, each individually hand-painted, are a wonderful contrast to the somewhat Biedermeier porcelain culture of the well-known “brands”.
