As soon as you leave the hotel, the first hiking trails around Oberhof begin. A huge network of well-signposted routes offers new routes every day. Or you can use GPS and explore the beautiful forests around Oberhof on your own.

Are you a climber? There are several climbing highlights around Oberhof and in Oberhof itself. Rugged rocks in the Thuringian Forest, with fantastic views or bouldering at Oberen Hof – that would be one option. Or you can conquer the 75 stations on three levels, up to 15 metres high, in the new Oberhof Golf Climbing Park. There are many options for a sports holiday with an adrenaline kick in Thuringia.

Sport in Oberhof also means marvelling and observing. Of course, we mean the famous Oberhof sports facilities, which have been constantly renovated and improved in recent years. Not least with a view to the double World Championships in 2023, with biathlon and luge taking centre stage. We highly recommend that you explore the sports facilities during your holiday in Oberhof. Perhaps on a guided hike, which you can take part in free of charge with your Oberhof guest card. Or you can hike around the sports facilities on your own. Our tip: You can find the current occupancy schedules for the sports facilities on the sports facilities’ websites. This way you can take a look at the top athletes in training. Or you can be a spectator at one of the competitions for precious metals.
From the Hotel Thüringenschanze, you can reach the youth ski jump on the Wadeberg in just a few minutes. This has been completely renovated. From there, it is worth taking a walk along the historic sports facilities hiking trail in the direction of the luge and bobsleigh track. You can meander along the luge track and hike up the mountain towards the indoor ski centre. Europe’s only indoor biathlon hall welcomes Mrs Holle all year round. 365 days of snow. The LOTTO-Thüringen-ARENA on the Rennsteig starts right next door to the indoor ski centre. Biathletes and cross-country skiers from all over the world train with the up-and-coming stars of tomorrow in the famous biathlon stadium on the Rennsteig. Another half an hour’s walk and you will reach the impressive ski jumps at Kanzlersgrund. It’s hard not to be amazed here. It gets particularly sporty when you start at the bottom and conquer the stairs on the lift.
