For dinner, you can enjoy a delicious gourmet buffet in the Bergvagabund restaurant at the Hotel Thüringenschanze as part of your half board.
Active in the forest during the day? In the evening, feast from 17:30 and recharge your batteries for the next day of your holiday. Non-alcoholic drinks and coffee & tea from the self-service counter are also included during the meal. Flexible, delicious & rich.
Half board with a large gourmet buffet
We completely redesigned our restaurant in the Hotel Thüringenschanze in 2022. You can now expect a spacious and light-flooded restaurant. Loving details emphasise the ambience.
Our gourmet buffet offers delicious culinary
delights from 17:30 to 20:30.
Our kitchen crew conjures up daily changing regional and seasonal dishes. You will almost always find classics such as schnitzel and spare ribs on our gourmet buffet.
Perhaps start your self-designed meal in our Bergvagabund restaurant at our colourful vitamin & salad bar, with various salads, dressings and marinated cheese specialities as well as a richselection of bread. A small soup makes for a successful intermediate course.
For the main course, you can choose from dishes such as spare ribs, schnitzel, dumplings and stews, a variety of vegetarian delicacies, pasta and fish dishes.
The pizzas from our own pizza ovenare also very popular in our restaurant in Oberhof.
Make sure you leave a place for dessert. Our dessert selection is a delicious temptation with hot and cold dessert specialities. For example:chocolate mousse, cheesecake in a jar, tiramisu, brownies and fresh fruit. ….or more cheese with a good chutney. The choice is yours.
Children in the Bergvagabund restaurant
Colourful vegetables, chicken wings and nuggets, pasta, rice pudding and, of course, the popular chips are available for our younger guests.
The magnet for children: the ice cream counter. “Grab your parents and build your favourite sundae from Italian ice cream classics, toppings such as Smarties, gummy bears, colourful sprinkles and fruit sauces from the ice cream & candy bar” ….. Of course, the grown-ups can also nibble on the ice cream.

For longer get-togethers, we are happy to make a reservation from 18:00 on our “gallery”, accessible via a small staircase.
“Together against food waste”
We ask you to take only as much as you can eat. You are welcome to go to the buffet several times. We will continuously refill the buffet and adjust the quantities to the registered guests. We assure you that nobody has ever left our restaurant hungry.
